In a meeting, our staff was asked what we considered to be the best thing about our products. We all answered the same answer: our selection. We have one of the largest selections of officially licensed merchandise on the internet, but more than that, we have a number of rare items that can't be found anywhere else. Our policy is to not stock any items that we ourselves would not want to own. If we, as fans, don't want something, then how can we expect any other fans to?
This ideal may seem like common sense to us, but it's actually very rare among businesses. There are countless books on marketing that say to never build your business around what you like, but to instead focus on selling, talking customers into buying whatever you have the most of.
We are not like that.
If we recommend an item to you, it's because we truly like it. If we don't know about something, we will honestly tell you. If we think an item isn't any good, we'll say so when asked, and leave it in your own hands to decide. After all, we are all different, and we do like different things, but we believe that trust is the most important part of business.
After all, if you don't trust someone, then why would you support them? Why would you buy from them? Why would you help them to grow?
We only stock high quality, authentic merchandise. We do not order anything from China. We are truly proud of our products, and we truly believe that you will love them as much as we do.
Now, that said, we also have some items that were traded to us for store credit, which may be of lesser quality. We try our best to make notes about these on our item descriptions, and we will always be honest when asked about them. We believe that honesty is always the best policy.
To illustrate this point, allow me to close with a story..
At a convention, one of our agents was speaking with a customer, whom asked about a certain DVD boxset that we had at the time. Our agent told the customer that it was the worst anime he had ever seen in his life, and proceeded to talk for 5 minutes about how awful it was and how he would not recommend it to anyone. The customer bought it anyway, saying he wanted to see how bad it really was.. And he came back to our store later and ordered $800 worth of other items, merely because he saw he could trust us to be honest.
In business, honesty is truly best for everyone.
